Bouteille de Ni blanc ni rouge 2024, chardonnay et grenache noir, Domaine de La Bénisson-Dieu

Neither white nor red 2024

Neither white nor red - yet entirely itself. Our Chardonnay from the Monts de la Madeleine meets a Grenache Noir from the South, hand-harvested and pressed directly, like a claret.

From this unusual blend comes a wine full of energy, between fresh red fruits and zesty citrus, stretching into a saline finish. Serve chilled.

Grape varieties & terroir

Chardonnay and Grenache Noir.

The Chardonnay comes from our 0.5-hectare plot, planted a little over twenty years ago on the granitic terroir of the Monts de la Madeleine.

The Grenache Noir is sourced from a certified organic estate in the South of France, "where the mistral blows": we travel down to harvest it ourselves by hand, before bringing the grapes back to be vinified at our estate.

Vines about twenty years old, organically farmed, hand-harvested in 15 kg crates, with yields controlled at 20 hl/ha.

Winemaking & ageing

Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The Grenache Noir, vinified via direct press, emerges as a light red, a claret.

Aged in seasoned barrels for the Chardonnay, and in concrete eggs for the Grenache Noir. Neither fined nor filtered; very light sulfiting at bottling (20 mg/l). Bottled at the estate, natural cork sealed with beeswax.

12.5% vol. · Vin de France · Certified Organic by Ecocert · Vin Méthode Nature

Tasting notes

The elegant nose blends fresh red fruits, floral notes, and a slightly smoky hint.

The attack is fresh and energetic, then gives way to very luscious fruit, ranging from fresh red berries to bright citrus.

The saline finish, with a touch of bitterness, provides the wine with its great length.

Food pairing & serving

As an aperitif, or with oysters, sea bream tartare, ceviche, Thai or Vietnamese cuisine, a thin-crust tomato tart, lentil salad, or fresh goat cheeses.

Serve chilled at 12°C.
